D&L Supply Co. / Brand identity

Respect the legacy. Refuse the museum piece.

D&L Supply Co. has been in business since 1977, supplying cast iron, ductile iron, fabrication, steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. The brand work had to acknowledge that history without making the company look frozen inside it.

The assignment

A long-earned reputation deserved a sharper public face.

Wild Monkey’s project archive contains the identity work, final logo assets, and trade-show application. The strategic tension was straightforward: keep the authority that comes with decades in the industry, but give the business a visual system capable of standing beside the scale and precision of the work itself.

01 / Creative thesis

Durability is a design behavior, not an industrial texture.

The answer was not faux-rust, hazard stripes, or a costume version of manufacturing. The identity needed confidence, weight, legibility, and repeatability — qualities that can feel industrial without becoming cliché.

02 / Identity language

Make the mark feel engineered.

The system was shaped to read as deliberate and dependable: strong proportions, disciplined spacing, and enough visual weight to hold up in practical business environments.

A manufacturer with thousands of possible products does not need an identity that competes with the catalog. It needs one that frames the expertise behind it.

03 / Application

A logo is not finished until it survives a real room.

The archive includes a dedicated trade-show display, which matters because that is where identity stops being a file and becomes environment. Scale, distance, neighboring exhibitors, product detail, and quick recognition all change the job.

The system was designed to keep the D&L name legible and authoritative even when the surrounding space was busy with technical information and physical product.

04 / Continuity

The next chapter still had to look like the same company.

Rebranding a legacy business is not an excuse to erase accumulated familiarity. The job was to strengthen the signal around D&L’s existing reputation so the visual identity could support the business instead of forcing customers to relearn it.
